New Snow!

I love it when the weather man is right!  They predicted between 4 and 8 inches of fresh powder yesterday and we received it!  It has made everyone a little happier on the last day of 2009.  The ranch is covered in fresh white blanket of snow.  There is really no way to truly describe the beauty of a snow tipped pine tree. Randy has just set off in the groomer to set new track.  I will let you know what it’s like, I am hoping to get out for a quick tour around the upper meadow this afternoon.  Mike … Continued

Winter Wonderland

It’s a beautiful day here in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. I just finished feeding our horses with our team of Percherons- Bob and Bill.  While out feeding, my mind wandered to some special times I have had driving during the holidays. The first that comes to mind is 15 years ago when my daughters were about 6 and 8.  It was Christmas day and my help was sick.  Casey, Laura and I went out to the stack with Kate and Ada, my team of mules, and we all loaded the sleigh.  My girls had to work hard to move those … Continued

2009 – 2010 Season Underway

We began our 2009 – 2010 winter season last week and all is going well.  The lodge is decorated for Christmas, the cabins and lodge are edged in white lights and the trails are groomed. The kids that are here this week are busy building snow forts, drinking hot chocolate, feeding the herd and putting puzzles together between activities.  But most importantly they are awaiting Christmas eve and the next visit of Santa Claus.  Christmas eve and day will be filled with plenty of food, activities and family time.
