Reviews of the Women's Yoga and Horses Retreat

"I expected to do some yoga and horseback riding. What I did not expect was the opportunity to connect with other women, with the horses, the physical place and with my self. All this has been a wonderful surprise. Every day we support each other and open our hearts to receive support. I feel stronger, braver, and more at peace with myself than I ever have. I am deeply appreciative of the energy the staff and the other participants have devoted to this experience."

"WOW! I’ll start with "exceeding my expectations!" From the moment I turned into the ranch, I felt welcomed: a first class resort without being pretentious. Janice teaches a philosophy that allows all to experience a “”greater” being individually. I practice yoga and ride – the ability to connect these is huge. Excellent horsemanship lead by Tammy and acknowledging awareness and gaining a higher level consciousness is making me a better rider. And, it’s not just about me! How wonderful to truly work as “one” with the horse. Life is a series of relationships; I have truly taken one more forward step. My book of Life is filled with many chapters – some completed. I think I just started Volume 2. Happy Trails, Namaste, Right on Sisters!"

"What a magical week! I came stiff and sore from an accident and I now feel healed. My strength and flexibility have returned. Thank you, Janice The varied riding increased my skill and confidence. Thank you, Tammy. This is a week for introspection and personal growth. It is a week just for me and the other participants to reflect and let go. Thank you Home Ranch for providing such a great experience. "

"This was the most awesome retreat ever! The bonding with other women – all the participants- was so strong that when I went to the dining room, I sat anywhere because all the women (all 13) became my friends. That is such a beautiful result of the workshop – our shared experience is so powerful that we are all one! I continue to learn horsemanship from Tammy and I can see the results in my confidence and in how I relate to my horse and vice versa. In Yoga, Janice continues to take me into new places with the same poses – I marvel at that; I love that “Janice Yoga” is spiritual and not just about the body but also the mind and the spaces in between.

"This week has restored my sense of balance and I feel more confident in myself. I love the way Tammy explains simple concepts in riding and horsemanship that can be instantly applied with good results. As a novice in yoga, I appreciate Janice’s patience and I believe I have found a new activity to add balance and joy to my life. I found the yoga discussions while we were holding a position the most helpful. In riding, I found the pattern of trying out a skill (posting, loping) in between long peaceful walks very helpful and fun. To me, this retreat was perfect and I look forward to next year!"

"This week has been an awesome, life-changing growth for me. Much more than I expected. Loved the entire program and schedule. Loved the intimate, women-only aspect. This felt like Home. Now I know why it’s called The Home Ranch. I felt like part of a family. Tammy and Janice are gems. I now have 15 best new friends, memories that will make me smile and new doors that I plan to walk through. Thank you, I’ll be back."

"This week at the Home Ranch has been an exquisite immersion into yoga, horsemanship, and friendship. I have appreciated the opportunity to experience new edges and the courage to move beyond them. I like the variation in scheduling and extra touches such as music and dancing. This has truly been a rich experience and fulfillment of a lifelong dream. The Home Ranch is the perfect setting and its staff has been an important part of this delightful trip."

"Beyond a doubt, this experience was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I was expecting nice horses and sweet lodgings, but I was not expecting to meet an entire group of such beautiful, wise, interesting women. It was so refreshing and exciting to be part of such a richly energetic group, and to listen and learn about their lives and experiences. Tammy and Janice together make a fabulous team. Tammy is an exquisite horsewoman and truly soulful woman, and it was a privilege not just to ride with her, but to learn from her just how to be around horses and how to enrich and deepen my relationship with them in all ways. The experience of working with my horse (the wonderful Panda Bear Big and Beautiful!) was an absolute dream, and I have never received a higher compliment than Tammy telling me how much Panda seemed to be “loving life” when I was riding her. Janice is an amazingly generous, patient and brilliant yoga teacher. Her insights on meditation, healing and yoga were always on target – her attention to form and her care particularly with our individual bodies, combined with her natural humor and ease and her generosity of spirit made for a rich and rewarding experience. The entire ranch staff, wranglers, cooks, servers, etc. could not have been nicer or more considerate. It was such a treat to get to work with the weanlings and experience other parts of ranch life. All in all, one of the best weeks of my life so far – I plan to be back next year and hopefully for many years to come. PS-I really appreciated from both Janice and Tammy the emphasis on taking care of yourself before you can take care of others – makes for safe riding and for safe yoga and a richer more spirited life for all. “You can only give when your own vessel if already overflowing.” Too many of us think sometimes that taking care of ourselves makes us selfish, without stopping to think about the quality of what we’re actually “giving” when we haven’t met our own needs first. I really needed to hear that, and recognizing it made my time at the Home Ranch that much more of a blessing. Thank you, Thank you Namaste."
