Earlier this month we had the honor of getting to enjoy two amazing Walla Walla Valley Wine Makers, and their wines, for a weekend for our guests from a far and Steamboat locals. The weekend featured Leonetti Cellar and DoubleBack wines. Leonetti wine maker Chris Figgins also let us taste a sample from the Figgins Family Estate. DoubleBack wines are produced by former NFL Quarterback Drew Bledsoe. Chris and Drew grew up together and after retiring from football Drew moved back in 2007 to plant his estate vineyard. Through a chance meeting Chris and Drew created a partnership. Chris grew up producing wine with his family, who were at the forefront of Walla Walla Wine making. Chris has taken on new projects like Figgins Family Estate and consulting with regional wine makers to share his knowledge.

Friday night we sampled wines before a traditional meal in our dining room. Guests had the opportunity to try the 2011 DoubleBack, Cabernet and the 2009 Leonetti Cellar, Merlot.

Saturday, our guests enjoyed a day of Nordic skiing around the ranch, snowshoeing down to the Elk River, and a chance to relax with a new book and glass of wine. The guests came back to the living room for another wine sampling and chance to learn more about the wines from the wine makers themselves before having a five course wine pairing meal in the dining room.
